Margaret Flockton Award, 2011

The annual Margaret Flockton Award Exhibition for excellence in scientific botanical illustration opens on Thursday 31 March in Sydney.

Supported by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, the award is named in honour of Margaret Flockton, the Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust’s first botanical illustrator (1901 – 1928). This international prize is unique in that it promotes scientific botanical illustration as distinct from its colourful cousin, botanical art. Now in its eighth year, the Margaret Flockton Award attracts entries from the best botanical illustrators around the world and helps highlight the important contribution illustrators continue to make to the field of natural sciences.
